So. Apparently I've decided against shutting the blog down completely, yet there will be a change, one that probably few of you care about but it will be, nonetheless, a "change."
Climbing shots will still be on here quite often. The only "real" change will be that I will definitely NOT be posting some of my pictures that I consider my "real work", whatever that is. I am working on a couple of projects, which fall into the category of "real work" I guess, so those images will not be put on my blog. I do not want those "good images" floating around the internet, or seen really.....not until these projects are finished. So..there. Again, enough rambling, picture time...

Dave on a pretty classic "new" rig at the Bfields, shots taken with another new camera/lens combo. I'm digging it.

Well, here's some random images taken over the past few days.....all film, shot with a few classic, vintage (in some cases, cheap) rangefinder cameras. One turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise, with an incredibly sharp, fast 35mm fixed-lens!
It has become my primary camera as of late. It's small size, fast focusing and QUIET shutter makes me take it everywhere. Not to mention the quality of the pictures in color and b&w....especially b&w.
Blah, enough rambling, I doubt any of the above matters or means a thing to most people, but maybe the pictures will....

The work has begun on what will be a definite safe haven and training ground for B'ham climbers. Psyched!
Seriously grateful for those who are making it happen. This really is gonna be great thing for locals climbers and a good place for the newbies to learn a thing or two.....or three.

In other news, I finally sent off my application/portfolio to NYC photo-school. Now it's time to just sit back and wait to hear if I made it or not.

My two little film cameras I have been shooting a lot with recently.

Classic cameras, for sure! They're a lot of fun to shoot with too.

FILM!

So today I finally got the chance to shoot with my newest camera, an Olympus XA, a rangefinder-type of camera (film of course) and I'm psyched with the results. The camera was one my Dad's old cameras, "back in the day." I recently found it stashed away in a box.

I bought some expired B&W film for cheap to take some test shots....slightly funky hue going on in two of the shots, the trees and Dave's "portrait" but I'll take it....in fact I kind of like the look. Definitely like the B&W shots from the not expired film. PSYCHED for some "street" photos with this setup.

Also got some 800 speed color film to test out shooting climbing.....it worked, pretty well too.
Ahhhh, gotta love film. Definitely (re)inspired!

I anticipate I'll be shooting a lot more film from here on out, especially since I have so many old, classic films cameras laying around. So much fun shooting film. And I still personally prefer the look of film, especially the grain....and especially grain in b&w. It's sharper too.

So, Dean's phone is pretty sweet, especially the camera and its ability to use flash (of sorts)...it's also got some sort of focus-assist light thing...whatever, anyways, after I saw him taking a picture similar to the first one below, I just had to take some "portraits" using the light/flash thingamajig from his phone.

Well today I had one of my most rewarding/fulfilling experiences in my many years of climbing and at the Bfields of all places, haha. All I will say is that it a happened on a problem I've wanted to do for a LONG time but due to feeling weak or lacking confidence (and knowledge) I haven't tried it that much over the past couple of years.....that is until the past week or so, when my doubts fell away and the process of progression took over. I will not "spray" anymore than that. Fitness does feel good though! SO, SO freaking psyched!! WORD!

Alright, well, today was an absolutely incredible day, almost surreal, so much so
that I don't think I realize the enormity of it all for a while.
The Inauguration Ceremony was fantastic, albeit a bit crazy with all the people but it was all those people that made it so fantastic. I feel truly lucky to have been a part of it all.
It's been a long, COLD day and tomorrow will be another long one so I have to sleep now. Here's a few shots from yesterday at the National Mall....

Adam H. midway through one of the craziest problems around. It kinda looks like a pile in this shot but it ain't.....it maybe a bit dabby where he is but the move he's just done/doing is freaking rad, involving a "fall down" move and super cool toe-hook unlike any I've ever done....plus, the whole problem is about 50ft long, finishing with a classic 20+ foot arete coming out a hole (not in this shot).
